Impact of modernization on Pakistani society

Modernization is defined as a synonym for westernization. As the media have boomed in Pakistan the westernization process have increased drastically. But before the strong emergence of media the seed of  modernization was ploughed by the British rule in subcontinent. The changes that took place in subcontinent many years ago still exists are growing stronger and stronger everyday due to the need to be like the developed countries.
Aspects of pakistani society that have been effected by modernization:
1) Occupation and advancements in occupation.
2) Government system
3) Culture
4) Status of women
5) Infrastructures
6) Media advancement
Occupation and advancements in occupation:
It is known worldwide that Pakistani society is predominantly an agricultural society. But with the modernization this occupation has evolved. This is the result in advancement in techniques of cultivation which were started by western countries to enhance the growth of crops and to create new species of fruits and vegetables. Now a days many new species of vegetables and fruits are cultivated in Pakistan as well. Before the advancement of agriculture secret farmers used to plough and harvest the crops manually now a days they use machinery to do so.  Example US-AID helped Pakistan in agriculture sector by educating the farmers on new technologies and funding them.
Government system:
Pakistan is “the Islamic republic of Pakistan” by which one may think that the government system is the khilafah system or the monarchy but in actual Pakistani government system is the hybrid of monarchy and democracy with some laws are according to shariyah and some laws are influenced by western countries. The influenced laws are result of conditions that are imposed by the UN and some are imposed by the USA in exchange for loans and aids. Example: for a long time death penalty was not practiced in Pakistan up until they started executing the terrorists and when it started many western countries opposed the idea of it.
Infrastructures:
Infrastructures in Pakistan now a days are influenced by western countries. The traditional infrastructures were mosque like building used to have dome and Arabic or Persian inscriptions on them but when British occupied the subcontinent they also influenced the infrastructure. The building became more simple block shaped and with modernization infrastructure became more simple and efficient with flyovers and highways and a complete mesh of roads. Example in today’s Pakistan Lahore’s infrastructure is highly influenced by western countries with local trains tracks a proper transportation system has been laid out in Lahore.
Status of women:
Pakistan is an Islamic society before the modernization that is brought to Pakistan by the media women used to be confined in their houses with less to no importance given to women’s education. But with the advancement and liberalism brought to Pakistan women have become more aware of their rights and they have taken more control of their lives. According to a study conducted in 2013 more women were enrolled in higher education then men. Their dressing have become  western influenced and they are working like men in every field now even in military forces. But still the culture adopted by women in Pakistan is not 100% western it is perfectly fused with the norms and values accepted by the Pakistani society.
Conclusion:
1) Modernization in Pakistan is mostly driven by media although the seeds were ploughed many years ago.
2) Modernization have good impact on Pakistani society but it certainty have changed the ideologies on which Pakistan was formed.
3) It have empowered women and have given men a broader thinking.
4) It have shaped the ideas and infrastructures.
5) But with the aid taken by Pakistan from western countries have slowed the progress rate. And many conditions have been imposed.
6) It have made people stand for their rights as well as it have created conflicts among the ridged conservative minds and the liberal minds.
7) It have lessen the importance of the festivals that were once very dear to us and the festivals that were not the Part of our culture are now being highly celebrated.
8) We are driven away from our moral and values. The respect for relations is getting lower and lower.
9) Our cuisine is still pretty much not as effected but still having a western meal is considered more in trend.
10) It have given people the right to chose a leader as well as practice their shariyah law.
People of Pakistan have well observed the western countries and fused their believes and traditions and norms into Pakistani society. Their technology is well used. Their systems have been adopted well by our society.

Seven years into the war!

Seven years into the war, Seven years are long enough! Long enough to finish seven generations, Long hard sleepless nights, please someone hear my sighs! Long enough to go deaf, with all the noise we've heard all our lives, Seven years are long enough, Long enough to realise, who we are and with whom we fight! Long enough between those cries, that haven't been answered by any allies! Look into those innocent eyes, what have they done to deserve this demise. They took my parents away from me, And now I pray for their ease! Seven years away from peace, now we think this is our life! Oh dear God! Hear my plea, I wish no harm, Just save me!

THE WOMAN

She woke up with a sudden jerk; covered in sweat she patted her forehead. She was having the same dream that she had been having since she was 6. "The woman...!" She thought to herself. "Who is she? Why do I always dream about her?" She got up from her bed and went to her study table, took a piece of paper and started writing something down... "She with every dream she is getting nearer and nearer to me. It’s like she wants to tell me something. Now I can see her even when I am fully awake. I can hear her voice along with several other voices telling me to do stuff. Why is this happening to me? Should I talk to mum about it? But I don't want to cause her any trouble. My presence is already a big problem for her. I don't see her smile after dad left us and she got married to Joe. I always thought she loved him and he loved her then why do they fight all the time. Sometimes it gets so loud in here that I have to hide under my bed. I know that mum and Jo...
